Silverbirch Medical Practice, Bangor, County Down, Northern Ireland

Bangor Travel Clinic at Silverbirch Medical Practice

Bangor Travel Clinic is open to the public and registered patients of Silverbirch Medical Practice.

Bangor Travel Clinic is a designated Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre and has been authorised by NaTHNaC (as the regulatory body for England, Wales and Northern Ireland), to administer yellow fever vaccine in accordance with International Health Regulations (2005).

You can now Book Online at Docster.health.   We also accept referrals from other GPs or health professionals.  Ideally please book your appointment for at least 6 weeks before your scheduled departure to allow time for any vaccine courses you may need.

You can check the FitForTravel Website to find out what travel vaccinations you may require.  The website also contains a wealth of other useful travel health advice.

Each patient who attends our Bangor Travel Clinic will have an individual risk assessment with our Doctor or Travel Nurse.  This includes an assessment of your current health and an assessment of the risks associated with your destination, activities and modes of travel.

Please complete our Traveller Questionnaire and leave it in as soon as possible - ideally a minimum of 2 weeks before your appointment.

In addition to advice on vaccinations and malaria prevention a travel consultation at Bangor Travel Clinic includes advice on non-vaccine-preventable and non-prophylaxis-preventable diseases, care in the sun, food and water hygiene, insect repellents, safe sex, managing existing conditions while travelling, self care for many travel related illnesses and problems, and preparation of a travel self care kit.

Travel consultations need to be carried out face-to-face.  Telephone consultations are not available.

Only one trip can be assessed in a single travel consultation so if you are planning another trip then a separate appointment should be made for this.

There is a fee of £25 per person for travel consultations at Bangor Travel Clinic.  Discounts are available for couples and families.  For short notice travellers we can sometimes accomodate an urgent appointment before the date of travel.  The urgent appointment fee is £50.

NHS vaccines can be provided on NHS prescription for our registered patients.  For non-registered patients there is the choice of purchasing the vaccine privately or we can provide a list of the recommended NHS vaccines for you to request from your own GP if they agree to prescribe and administer travel vaccines.
